Blackmores Eco Krill - A Whale Sized Giveaway!

Blackmores recently sent me some Eco Krill to review.

The latest buzz in supplements?

This little guy.

One of the tiniest crustaceans in the ocean, krill is a vital food for whales and penguins and is now in BIG demand for humans.

Why?

It's said to absorb faster and better than fish oil.

Fish oil has been all the rage as a supplement for the last few years.  You'd have to be living under a rock (or at the bottom of the sea) to not have heard about its benefits.

It's all about Omega 3 fatty acids, baby.

Taking Omega 3 supplements is said to benefit heart, brain and eye health.  They're also said to have anti-inflammatory actions.

It's the structure of the Omega 3s in krill oil that is different from fish oil.  In krill oil they're found as phospholipids which are easier for our bodies to absorb.

You can read more about the fish oil/ krill oil differences on the Blackmores site.  It's really quite interesting.

I've been taking fish oil on and off for years so I was happy to try Blackmores Eco Krill.

Anything to try and alleviate my 'baby brain'.

What I've liked most about reviewing this product is learning about where it comes from.

The Blackmores Eco Krill is the only krill oil available in Australia that has been certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

Most weekends the kids drag me to Sea World and they're big on animal preservation, so sustainable fishing gets a big thumbs up from me.

The amount of marine life that is wasted as by-catch (incidental capure of an untargeted species) is horrifying.

In 2010 the reported by-catch of sea turtles was approximately 85 000 turtles.

Choosing sustainable seafood products can have a huge impact on our marine life.

The Marine Stewardship Council certification of sustainability is supported by WWF.  It is the most rigorous certification available.

I would LOVE to be able to try Krill oil to see if the anti-inflammatory claims are true. I'm not on Facebook, so entered via email, a chance at a year's supply is too good to pass up.
